Mat Taib On The Rise

Mat Taib is a solid Umno politician and delegates to the General Assembly this year will see him as a good bet for party VP.

He is internationally known, particularly in Australia, which gave him a rousing welcome more than 20 years ago during a personal visit to Brisbane.

However, he has a poor grasp of the English language. This was a key factor in the special treatment he received Down Under, but it is unlikely to be so at the party polls.

Mat Taib is generous in nature, and this facet of his personality will sit well with the delegates in December.

He does not only have strong grassroots support, but also close links to the palace, which were forged during his tenure as Menteri Besar of Selangor.

Yesterday, Mat Taib said: “With the party’s support, and God willing, I will win.”
With his generosity and charm, I’m sure the party will support him. And if God wills it, I’m sure he will win.

For the sake of the country, I hope he does.

Anything that hastens the day when we see politicians and their parties put in their respective rightful places, is something to wish for.
